TOKYO AUTO SALON 2022 finally took place!

POSTED

Despite the obstacles of border closures and the spread of a new virus, Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 was able to open its doors to all car enthusiasts, making it the 40th event since its inception.  This year’s event was special and significantly different from all the previous ones. The main feature was that it was able to go offline and was attended by 126,869 people, despite the limitations associated with the current problem of coronavirus spread.  The admission fee was about 3,000 yen (about $30), and the tickets were exclusively electronic.

One of the event highlights was that Nissan officially presented a new Fairlady Z model for the Japanese market.  Its price will start at 6,966,630 JPY ($61,000) for the base model, with other model options to be announced a bit later.  It was immediately tested at the dedicated drifting venue located right on the Makuhari Messe Hall area by a Japanese famous DJ and racing driver, Piston Nishizawa, who explained the goodness of chassis performance while actually driving.

Of course, there were other drifting events, where everyone could admire the colorful spectacle of drifting performed by professional drivers.

Main Specifications:

  • Powertrain: 3.0L V6 twin turbo
  • Maximum output: 405ps/6400 rpm

Bride, famous for its sports seats, introduced its first child seat designed in the shape of an existing bucket seat putting its brilliant logo on the belt.  So now Bride seat owners are able to have a full set for all family members including newborns as well, making the car more stylish and costly.  Actually, there were lots of other JDM makers and booths with fantastic customized cars which could be watched by the link we share below.

As you already know from our Instagram account, Upgarage also took part in Tokyo Auto Salon 2022, by decorating the pretty creative space displaying Honda NSX, that taking part in Super GT 300 class (more information is here), the Toyota 86 that already retired from the race back in 2018, and the motorcycle of one of our fans.  As a tradition, the booth had a photo stand with more than 10,000 photos of Upgarage users` cars from all over the world. Let us thank everyone who shared the pictures with us in order to gather all JDM car enthusiasts in one place.

And, of course, there was an outlet store of beloved JDM parts and accessories, where the “Wakeari” (“Junk” parts) corner was one of the most desired places to spend time.  We are very happy that such a long-awaited event finally took place this year and really hope that all fans of JDM culture could come to Japan and visit the event in person the next years.

See you in Tokyo in 2023!
